School Magazine Evaluation

I got my magazine deign from the memory of buying and reading other magazines, I took the ideas of having an eye catching heading and front cover, this was so I could attractive customers to choose my magazine over competitors. I also made sure to include the main interesting stories to invite customers to buy it so they can read it to find out more. I made sure I had an image (feature article photo) on the front cover otherwise it would be boring to my potential audience so I would therefore lose out on profit. All magazine editors would want to take this into consideration. My magazine represents my audience of the school students well because I have kept the colours young and eye catching so it interests them into reading into it. I made sure I didn’t use long and technical words so I could kept the age range I designed for (due to the school starting from age 11 to 18) the image on the front and content pages followed on as I wanted to show the audience that the main article would be. The reason why I made the front and contents pages pink was to genderise the audience as I made the magazine a special edition for the female students at the school. I choose to do this to make the magazine look unique and so it could help me potentially draw in more students into reading the magazine as it is socially and educationally beneficial for them. I made the content page a lighter shade of pink to keep the theme continuous but make it slightly different to the front cover. The font used throughout both of my pages was “Calibri” as it is a clear font that is easy to read and also informs the reader that the magazine contained formal information but the colour of the font made it seem as if it enjoyable to read into more depth. I designed to use an iconic image on the front to make the reader/customers feel connected to it instantly. In creating my magazine I have learnt about different technologies from the process of constructing it all, as I had never used the software PSE before and I now feel more comfortable in using the basic features to the create my magazine, as shown in my content page I managed to added more detail and create the page in a more efficient time. Even though I’m not aware of all the tools I am able to use yet I am making slow process into understanding them all to be bale to create more in depth and harder pages/ tasks. The make tools I used were the background filling and filling pen, the cut out tool for the photography I took for the front and content page, I also used the text tool for creating my headline, cover line and featured articles within the magazine and also managed to use the size tool to be able to drag and change the height and width of all my graphics that I included in the magazine cover and content.
